Greetings my fellow alliance men, women, & blog readers!!!

I am always amazed how the love for a game can inspire really creative people to sing some really fantastic parodies or original creations.  Here are a few that  made me smile that I have found on YouTube & other places:

How about you?  What have your fellow pod pilots found?  Feel free to add your comments with the links to those you have found.

Until next time...

How do you say Exhale. in Lithuanian?

EXHALE. Member Report: Agatir Solenth - 2013.03.08

Greetings my fellow alliance men, women, & blog readers!!!

So how do you say Exhale. in Lithuanian?

The reason I ask???  As of recent events that is all that is left of the Exhale. alliance members, the Lithuanians!

As the majority of the English speaking members logged on 2013.03.07, we found we no longer had an alliance chat tab in their window. (a bit of wtf?!? moment)

There is much speculation as to the reason for the split.  The true reasons may never truly be known.  From the meetings I was privy to, no one in leadership is telling.

SO...  A new alliance has been formed.

Bye Bye Exhale.

Hello... POLARIZED.

Death of a Thanny

EXHALE. Story Time: Eleniti - 2013.03.07

Greetings my fellow alliance men, women, & fellow blog readers!!!

Here is a little story told by one of my fellow alliance mates about a recent encounter.

A short depictions of events that led to the demise of Thanatos-class carrier in a C1 wormhole

INTRO

To build a Thanatos-class carrier vessel one requires approximately 830 000 m3 of minerals. These are then built into capital components that are subsequently used to build the actual ship. These capital spaceships cannot traverse lower end wormholes and as such must be built in system. To build one of these behemoths in a C1 the minerals must be hauled into the system in small quantities ranging from 15 000 to 30 000 cubic meters at a time due to the mass limitations of the holes leading in to a C1 system. A quick calculation shows that this translates roughly to 28-56 haul trips in to the system. Of course the actual number of jumps needed is double that simply because one haul trip includes two jumps ; a Herculean endeavor to say the least. After the ship is launched from the X-large ship assembly array in a lower end wormhole it is forever trapped; it will live and die in that system. Following this natural cycle - a Thanatos named “Wave” that had been birthed in a C1 system, perished in one.

Being a Heretic Gets Hectic

EXHALE. Member Report: Agatir Solenth - 2013.02.26

Greetings my fellow alliance men, women, & blog readers!!!

I’m not sure if I have told you yet, but I love flying the Devoter!  I like to be a team player, and I like to fill roles others don’t do.  The heavy and light interdictors are a good example of this.  Both are vital to be successful in PvP.  They keep the enemy from escaping a fight, and can be deployed defensively to keep an enemy fleet from jumping into your own fleet.

When properly fit with a heavy buffer tank, they don’t offer up a lot of range or DPS.  This can often leave you off a lot of kill mails.  I personally like to fit my HICs with weapons that will help clear off enemy drones.  Unfortunately recent changes to the cloaking mechanics now require HICs to wait until the Sensor Recalibration Time expires before it can activate its Warp Disruption Field Generator.  This has limited their ability to lay traps at gates and wormholes, but has greatly increased the use of its little brother the Interdictor.  The Interdictor does not suffer the same delay to launch its Warp Disrupt Probes.  So it can sit cloaked on gates and wormholes waiting to bubble any nice juicy target(s).

The sole weakness of the interdictor…  Its lack of any tank.  Often referred to as flying coffins, interdictor pilots often make the initial tackle, only to get caught in their own bubble and destroyed before they are able to get out and away.  Because of this sad fact, many alliances/corps will fully pay to replace the lost interdictor, to insure the interdictor pilots’ willingness to continue to fly them.  They may not get on a lot of killmails, their roams might end rather quickly, but it won’t cost them much this way.  There are various tactics to be employed to effectively fly them, and good interdictor pilots are an invaluable asset to any fleet.

I am one of those pilots that is more likely to get my Heretic (Amarr Interdictor) blown up before I get on the killmail.  I’m much more comfortable flying the Devoter.  I’m more of a tanky guy than a clicky-clicky-orbit really fast kind of guy.

However, the past few days, things have been a bit slow in the wormhole, and I decided to take my Heretic out for some pew.  The first day as I logged on it seemed that there might be a fight.  One of our scouts had found a Myrmidon floating in space.  I decided to jump into the Heretic and try and be the guy to make the tackle.  Unfortunately the Myrmidon was just outside of a POS’s shields.  The guys in fleet decided that they would try and land and alpha the Myrmidon before it could back into the shields.

Finding my ship a bit useless in that endeavor I decided to jump into the null sec system that our wormhole connected into.  I decided I’d try and cloak up on one of the gates and catch something.

The system was 4O-239.  As I jumped in there wasn’t anyone in local, and I set up on the 39P-1J gate.  Using Dotlan maps & the in game statistics it appeared that 39P-1J had 22 folks in system docked up or doing a bit of ratting.  I set up in position to catch someone 100km before the gate.  Unfortunately the only traffic was a couple of pods going out of the system, and my position left me empty handed.  Eventually I moved onto the gate itself.  I don’t mind getting some cheap pod kills.

By this time I had an addition interdictor pilot join me in 4O-239.  He setup on another gate.
Eventually the system spiked +1 in local and a Megathron showed up on D-Scan.  I called it out on voice comms, and asked if I’d have some support?  I got a few replies to go for it, so as it landed and jumped into 39P-1J, I jumped in after it.  As I loaded on the other side I got lucky, and was able to drop the bubble in time & it was in position to catch the Mega!  Unfortunately it was on the bubbles edge, and it began to burn toward the edges, and I saw 22 in local.  I quickly locked the Mega, activated my warp disruptor and established an orbit around it firing my rockets.  I figured it was time to lose this Heretic anyway.  Luckily reinforcements showed up rather quickly, as the Megathron’s pilot starting calling out in local for assistance.  We were able to make quick work of the Megathron, Killmail One.

The locals never answered their friends calls for help which emboldened us to stay and harass those still in system.  That resulted in a bunch of station docking games by an Armageddon and handful of random other ships.  I ran next door to PS-94K to snatch a quick noob ship kill at the station’s undock.  He must of gone AFK.  It soon after, that one of our scouts announced that an Iteron Mark IV pilot decided to make a PI run!?!?  I caught him on the gate with a bubble, resulting in Killmail Two.  As we finished off his pod an Oracle arrived at the edge of my bubble, giving me Killmail Three for this Heretic.  If that wasn’t good enough, on our way out a Buzzard jumped into the gate I had just landed on.  I was able to bubble AND de-cloak it to get me Killmail Four for the night!

I was pretty happy for my little Heretic.  It brought me more happiness, the next day when I was able to help chase down Batman and kill his warp stabbed Maelstrom for Killmail Five!

Until next time...

A Wormhole War Story

EXHALE. Battle Summary: Efraya - 2013.02.25

Greetings my fellow alliance men, women, & blog readers!!!

I have asked my fellow alliance members to share their wormhole stories and experiences here at the Be Bold blog.  One of the EXHALE. FCs Efraya has decided to tell the tale of one of his more memorable fights.

and… I was there!

The Scene

After a nice weekend - sans spaceships - I logged into TS to be greeted by our new Alliance mates, Probe Patrol (PP). Quite a few people were online so I got the ball rolling looking for a decent K-Space for PP to come in "En masse". PP had an empty Orca already in BeerKeg (BK) and a full one waiting in Amarr. We scouted a few chains 5 to 6 systems deep and still hadn't found a decent K-space. 7th chain ended with an EoL lowsec adjacent to High Sec (HS) so the empty Orca was sent out to Amarr.

Heating Up

Next chain started to get a little more interesting.

BK > c6s > c4a

The c4a had 2 mining Ventures so we went into stealth mode to try and find them. After a minute or two, the 2nd Venture disappeared from D-scan, and we waited 5 more minutes for him to return. He didn't. We still went for the 1st venture and only dropped a whole fleet on him.

It's well know that The Kairos Syndicate live in a c2 so probes were dropped to find their system.

After scanning the chain looked like this:

BK > c6s > c4a > c2a > hsa
                 ^
                c3a
                 ^
                lsa

Planning

Scouts were placed on all of the holes so that Transmission Lost (TLost) couldn't move without us knowing about it. An Archon was reported in the c2a and after 5 - 10 minutes it disappeared. People out in K-space were told to come in combat ships and the Orcas were lumbering their way to one jump out from the HS entrance. While they moved over to K-space, more and more Exhale. were logging into Teamspeak and forming up. As the Orca's were nearing their destination, more and more TLost were filtering in by the 1's and 2's from HS.

Suddenly Spaceships

A TLost Broadsword was placed on the HS for… idk what reason. With the HS fleet in place, the W-space fleet was brought down the chain and told to hold on c4a > c2a. As they landed the HS fleet was instructed to move to the entrance wormhole in HS. Subcaps were instructed to jump on contact and hold their session cloaks. As the Orca's landed (heavily laden might I add) on the HS they were told to also jump in and hold cloaks. I de-cloaked and burned in for the Broadsword who had at that moment dropped his bubble. I was about 20 km away and unsure I could land a point on him, so I called for the Subcaps from HS to also decloak and snag the broadsword. With the Broadsword engaged he promptly bubbled up again. With full dps on him he was forced to jump out to HS as his fleet landed. Bubble gone the Orca's were told to go to warp, and with the enemy reinforcements on grid the W-space fleet was called to the field.

When suddenly 2 Archons appeared!

They appeared so suddenly I can only suspect that they were login trapping us on their HS. Comms were hectic as the TLost Falcon was successfully jamming our 5 Guardians while their reps were holding. They had a single Bhaalgorn to match ours single Bhaal. At this moment, the hero to this story, Aquanable appeared in comms asking what was needed?  I called for another "Bhaal" so he was enroute. With reps holding on both sides, command to spread webs and point on the enemy subcaps was called. With our second Bhaal landing on field it was a matter of burning down the first Archon that was in triage and holding it to zero cap. With it down, the battle was won. It was then a matter of holding ships down so we could kill them. Neuts were switched to the 2nd Archon so he was held cap dry while we cleared the Bhaal and enemy dps off the field.

With the passage of so many ships through the chain including the 2 Orca's from HS. The holes were severely reduced. So a carefully planned extraction (i.e. total chaos) was executed.  Fortunately everone managed to escape to HS then back to BK via another wormhole chain.

All in all, hell of a way of bringing onboard a new corp to the alliance.

FIN.
